Bootsy Star has some siding up!

Last week we made some good progress on (half of) the roof. It rained over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, so we couldn't get anything done up there. During a break in the rain on Sunday we rushed out and James got the rest of the South side of the roof sheathed and then started putting the tar paper up. Meanwhile I was working on putting the wrap around the frame. The wrap (I learned) is another layer of insulation. It's super lightweight, but is a crazy efficient barrier. The mighty Troutdale winds couldn't tear it down this week....so- winner!

Notice the complete lack of a safety harness

Oh, hai. I'm working down her eon the ground

I made James take this to prove I was working

Here is the siding...half sorted

The sun came out!

Measuring out the tar paper to put over the sheathing

Again, Hunter does not like his paws wet so he stands on the siding

Tada! One side is sheathed!

Now comes the tar paper

At about 430pm the sun starts setting

This is as far as we could get before we lost the light

This was a few minutes before 5pm!

Today (Friday 11/30) it was gray but not raining so we headed outside. We finished wrapping the frame and then started to put up the siding.

Wrapping it up

James staples the wrap

James added a tarp over the roof to protect the side that has tar paper

Note the wall-less building behind James. Our future library

The ever present Penny- wanting to help

Boom. First piece of siding up!

We got one piece up all the way around then started on the West wall

We got about this far before we starting losing light

Last one we could put up in daylight

My original plan was to use reclaimed wood not just to save money, but because I liked the look of the miss-matched paint and board length. James is not really digging this at all, by the way. However. It turns out I will have to paint Bootsy Star because there is exposed wood and we can't have that. So, instead of this cool green and blue I will go with the palate I looked at a few months ago. I already picked up the super dark gray paint (Francesca) to paint the french doors. What are your thoughts on the blue (Lagoon) for the walls and the two shades of gray (Winter's day and Magnetite) for trim?

Tell me what you think for colors!
